Ok, Trick or Treat is over, I know, but with all the horror films on the TV all weekend I just wondered - what's your favorite and why?

Also, what's the very first scary movie you ever saw in a theater WITHOUT your parents.........and did you hide the entire time like I did? Mine was........the original Halloween.....still to this day one of the scariest things I've ever seen - just the music gives me the creeps! Friday the 13th is up there too......obviously my formative years were the 70's.......but that's another joke for another time.

AND (this is my edit) what's the one scary movie that you still won't watch no matter what? Mine is the Exorcist - read the book and cannot bring myself to watch the movie lol!

Anyone?

Sheri

I was traumatized by the Exorcist in my youth. Still can't bring myself to watch it.

I think "Last House On the Left" may have been my first scary adult film on my own. At least it's the one I remember. That really freaked me out at the time.

Favorite movie is a toss up between Halloween and The Omen. Love both of them.

First movie by myself (only 14) was the Exorcist - local movie theater let anyone in regardless of age. No where near as scary as the above two though.

Well dahling, Psycho is the one that made me afraid to take a shower. I always lock the bathroom door when I am home alone.

I thought Wait Until Dark was pertty scary too. I can not watch any of the slasher movies, they are too disturbing for me.

I can't believe that Bill didn't mention "It." Not only won't he watch it, he covers up the DVD with something else when we're in the store. I don't watch movies with a lot of blood. Here's a question, is it possible to make a very scary movie without a lot of gore?

The movie that scared me the most was Psyco. I still can't take a shower without peeking out of the curtain at least once. The ending with him sitting in the room at the police station with the fly on his hand was also unforgetable.

The movie that disturbed me the most was the remake of the Texas Chainsaw Massacer ( I think I miss-spelled that).

Yzma - Yes I think it is very possible to make a scary movie without a lot of gore. One of my favorite movies is Midnight Lace with Doris Day.
Has anyone else ever seen it? I also think that the directors of late have forgotten the power of psycological thrillers and have been leaning more toward the gore affect to often.
