Brian and I were talking about this last night, so I thought I'd ask you all also.

What are your favorite TV shows of all times? What is it about them that made them stand out? What was the ultimate fate of the shows? Why do you think it had the long/short run that it did?

This is easy - MASH - both sad and funny - great acting. I was so sad when it ended but I guess it was just time. Still catch reruns once in a while and I find I still love the show.

Second runner up - The Simpsons - guess I have a weird sense of humor and it's always up to date.

Favorite new shows - the mini series Rome on HBO and their 1/2 hour comedies Curb Your Enthusiasm and Extras.

Johnny Carson's version of the Tonight Show. His unique talent of being a great host with an impish sense of humor. Great wingmen in Ed McMahon & Doc Severinson.

Mr Wizard.......made science fun.

Superman w/George Reeves great escapest adventure. Reeves was very unrecognized for the level of acting in it IMO

I Love Lucy, Great entertainment, Desi every bit as good as Lucille Ball, Bill Frawley and Vivian Vance good counterpoints to Lucy & Desi

The Nanny, Great characters.....homages to other TV comedy roots.

Hill Street Blues......Showed the Dramadies were valid

Gosh, so many!! Here are a few that come to mind:

Cheers - laughed till I cried

Family Ties - for the warm fuzzies and the laughs too

Star Trek - classic, classic, classic

Miami Vice -the first season - I just remember there was nothing else like it, very slick and cool.

South Park - sick humor - lots of times on target messages though.

Then there are the sentimental favorites:

The Brady Bunch/Partridge family: comprised the Friday night line up of my girlhood!

Speed Racer/UltraMan/Original Superman - classic afterschool.

And let's see who remembers this one that I would watch again in a heartbeat: DARK SHADOWS -- ooooohhh!!!!

I'd have to say Seinfeld would be my all time favorite show. I just can't get enough of it...even now. The thing about those shows is how they have so many stories going on in one episode and yet they find a way to connect them all together. That, and the fact that some of the terms are so clever, they've become part of our everyday language.
ER, Law and Order, Cheers would all be up there too.

When I was a kid it was: Lost in Space, I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, the Monkees and Gilligan.

Ditto! Johnny Carson was my all time favorite. I cried all the way through his last show.

A show I loved as a young adult was Saturday Night Live. Dallas and Knots Landing were favs for many years.

Shows I loved as a kid were Bewitched and I Dream Of Jeannie.

When Johnny Carson passed the baton over to Jay Leno my TV viewing changed forever. This year in particular is the first in many years that I've had some must-watch shows. It is kind of nice to be able to veg in front of the tv.

Well, there are quite a few. Let's see,

Bewitched (I even named my DD Samantha)

I Dream of Jeannie (Had to visit Cocoa Beach on Honeymoon)

The Nanny (We ALL love that show)

Can't remember anymore right now.

My favorite all-time shows (in no particular order because I can't decide which I like best):

Max Headroom
Twin Peaks
Moonlighting
Sports Night
Firefly

They were all shows with quirky plots, fast dialogue and interesting characters. They are all shows (with the exception of Moonlighting) that had a VERY loyal (pronounced "cult") following who were bereft when they were cancelled far too soon.

As a kid I loved: Lost in Space, Ultraman, Roller Derby, Fantasy Island and Love Boat (never actually understood what was going on - good thing!)

I, too, was a huge "Lost in Space" fan! I still remember being stunned to discover the parallels to "Swiss Family Robinson"!

I'm still loyal to my all-time favorite show, "Gunsmoke" (except season 20). Who would have thought George W. Bush and I would ever have anything in common???!

Home Improvement was probably my all-time favorite with Cosby Show and Family Ties not far behind. I just enjoyed the family context of those shows.

When I was a kid, it was Leave It to Beaver and the Brady Bunch.

7th Heaven has been a staple in our home for the past 10 years and it will probably rank as one of our all-time favorites when we look back on it in years to come.

Star Trek

Cosmos (I always thought Carl Sagan was cool)

Babylon 5 (bloody brilliant!)

Alien Nation

Quantum Leap

Seinfeld

Soap

The X-Files (seasons 1-3)

Battlestar Galactica (the original)

Baa Baa Black Sheep (later changed to Black Sheep Squadron)

The original Spiderman cartoons (dig that music!)

All of Bill's are on my list too, except Seinfeld (good show, very funny, just not one of my faves) and X-files (also good but just not great to me).

As a kid I was also a fan of the Munsters, Emergency!, Adam 12, Matt Huston. But my favorite all time comedy is a toss-up between Soap and Taxi.

Like Sam Jackson said in the movie: "You're either SWAT, or you're not."
